Description

Class Experience

A loud scream woke you up in the middle of the night. You looked outside your window and saw a giant castle in the distance. Where did that castle come from? You could have swore it was not there when you went to bed. You sneak out of your home and go to the castle. There's no ticket booth. No one else appears to be around. As you approach the castle, you notice a giant flyer on the door. The flyer reads... "Lady Mathilde was the beloved owner of this castle. She was a generous woman who let kids play in the castle’s many rooms. She has been murdered. The first person to claim this castle will be it’s new owner. To claim the castle you must find out how Mathilde died before the killer gets you as well." You enter the castle and find yourself in a magnificent throne room. Suddenly the big, wooden door locks behind you and you realize that maybe this was not such a good idea ... The castle is full of mysteries. Only if you can solve all of the puzzles together in time will you escape. If not you may just end up like Mathilde...

If your child already loves mystery themed novels and detective shows, then this class will give them the chance to test their critical thinking skills in hypothetical situations both based in fantasy and reality. Your child will learn how to excel in puzzles and riddles and find themselves using lateral thinking to be more creative in their guesses. The puzzles and riddles will involve colors, wordplay, shapes, and elementary math. Students will look for misdirections, and break down the steps necessary to solve the puzzles. They will share and debate hypotheses with their classmates ultimately working together to solve the mysteries before class ends.
