The Ivy Leaf: An Afternoon of Traditional Irish Music

Sunday, March 112:00—3:00 PMOFF-SITE LOCATIONOffsite Location> do not display from here down <, Woburn, MA, 01801

Join us for an afternoon of traditional Irish music brought to you by The Ivy Leaf.  Initially formed by Lindsay Straw (bouzouki, guitar, vocals) as a way to explore her own interest in the interconnected streams of folk music in Ireland, Britain, and America, The Ivy Leaf is a young stalwart of traditional music in New England, featuring Armand Aromin (fiddle, English concertina, vocals, whistle), Dan Accardi (fiddle, concertina, accordion), and Benedict Gagliardi (concertina, harmonica, vocals, tenor guitar). Since forming in 2009, the band has explored an ever-evolving repertoire of songs and tunes from the Anglo-Celtic world, from Irish dance tunes to sea shanties, work songs, and dark narrative ballads. The members’ diverse backgrounds combine to produce a sound that is “vibrant and sure-footed, and tailored to fully reveal each tune’s character and personality” (Sean Smith, Boston Irish Reporter).

Tickets are free, but space is limited.   Doors open at 1:45.

LOCATION: Joyce Middle School Auditorium | 55 Locust St., Woburn, MA

This program is brought to you by The Friends of the Woburn Public Library, Woburn Public Library, and Woburn Public Schools.
