Dance Through Time: Regency Reels

Monday, July 76:30—8:30 PMProgram RoomIn Person at Woburn Public Library45 Pleasant St., Woburn, MA, 01801

Join us for a journey through time in dance! This series of classes is led by Antonia Pugliese of Commonwealth Vintage Dancers. Antonia will teach beginner-friendly social dances, reconstructed from period sources, for different periods each session.

No partner or previous experience is required to participate!

This week: in the Regency era, while Jane Austen wrote her beloved works, ballrooms were filled with lively country dances. Some of the liveliest of these, and Jane’s favorites, were reels – dances involving swirling, twisting, curving patterns called hays. Follow in her footsteps and try not to get dizzy! No previous experience is required, but those who have seen other Regency classes by Antonia will find new patterns that build on familiar country dance concepts.

Our journey through time is on the following dates with a new type of historical dance:

  • June 30: 18th Century Dance
  • July 7: Regency Reels
  • July 14: The Grand March
  • July 28: Mid-19th Century Waltz
  • August 11: The Fledermaus Quadrille
  • August 25: 1920s Foxtrot and Charleston

Sign up for each class you would like to attend. Each class is a stand-alone class, you do not need to attend previous sessions if you join in for one class.

Registration is required.
